Get out those pipe cleaners and beads to make a wide variety of neurons! Sometimes the best way to learn about something is to hold it in your hand.
Elementary School (Grades: K-5)
Basic:
Pipe Cleaner
This neuron pipe cleaners of 5 different colors: one color each for the dendrites, cell body, axon, myelin sheath and synaptic terminal. Any colors will do- pick your favorites!
Middle School & High School (Grades: 6-12)
Advanced:
Beady Neuron
Get out those beads + string and make a neuron!
Materials:
- Wire
- 65 beads (4 different colors)
- 42 beads for the dendrites,
- 10 beads for the cell body,
- 12 beads for the axon and
- 1 bead for the synaptic terminal
